We have grammar  lesson on the past tense of regular verbs.

What are regula verbs ?

-           Regular verbs are verbs which form their past tense and past participle  by adding ed or d at the end of the verb.

1) Verbs ending in e add only d

e.g. To love – loved

To smoke – smoked

To danse – danced

To arrive – arrived

2) Verbs ending in y following by a consonant change the y int i and add ed

e.g. To carry – carr – i – ed (carried)

To try – tr – i – ed (trier)

To cry – cr – i – ed (cried)

To apply  - appl – i – ed (applied)

-           Y  preceded by vowel does not change

e.g. To play – play – ed (played)

Toapply – obey – ed (obeyed)

3) verbs endind by a consonant preceded before adding d or ed.

e.g. Stop – stopped

admit – admitted

travel – travelled

plan – planned

shop – sshopened
